The prevalence of oral cancer is increasing and has been linked to the papilloma virus, alcohol consumption, smoking and smokeless tobacco. Oral cancer has a higher death rate than a lot of talked about cancers. Cancer can also be secondary to repeated trauma to the oral mucosa as seen with ill-fitting appliances. We take this very seriously and screen all patients for oral cancers.
Visual exams along with screening tools such as ID 3000 can help us detect suspicious areas in the primary stages. Our ultimate goal is prevention, protection and early detection and treatment of this disease.
